It's such an emotional thing to come over for his birthday," she said Sunday. "I was a little girl and I never got to see him, but I've seen every one of his movies. I feel like I know him."
Presley may have left the building for good more than 50 years ago, but the King of Rock 'n' Roll's legacy continues. About 25 people showed up at the Municipal Auditorium on Sunday to celebrate what would have been his 75th birthday party.
"We want to take this moment to honor the man who made rock 'n roll what it is today," said Tom Pace, honorary member of the Elvis' Angels Fan Club in Shreveport. "Elvis was a gift from God, not only known for his rock 'n' roll but also for his gospel. He gave up himself for those in need, and if he was here today I believe he would say 'may God be with you.'"
The birthday party began with the cake cutting and punch and included music and Presley memorabilia. Richard Cook performed in the lobby of the Municipal as Elvis himself. A wreath decorated with a collage of Presley photos highlight the room.
猫王诞辰75周年 各地粉丝举办各种形式庆祝活动
本报讯 1月8日是猫王Elvis Presley诞辰75周年的纪念日。自1977年猫王去世之后，每年的1月8日世界各地的“猫王粉丝”都会举办各种形式的活动来纪念这位伟大的摇滚歌手，事实证明猫王依然是世界上最伟大的歌手之一。
1月8日，有超过一万名群众聚集在悉尼火车站，他们统一的目的是乘坐六个小时的“猫王特快号”火车前往澳洲小镇Parkes。Parkes小镇每年一月的第二个星期都会举办为期五天的庆典猫王庆典活动，因此Parkes小镇也被誉为“澳洲猫王之都”。
在猫王的家乡美国格雷斯兰孟菲斯，歌迷更是举办了各式各样的纪念猫王诞辰的活动，在今年的活动现场猫王的女儿Lisa Marie以及配偶Priscilla Presley参加了今年的庆祝活动并一同把事先准备好的庆祝蛋糕切掉。
世界著名的玩具娃娃生产厂家Barbie也推出了猫王系列娃娃。美国的史密森尼博物馆也在近期举办了纪念猫王的主题展览，在这次展览中将会展出各种猫王的照片以及纪念品。
另外，成龙将在1月8日在艾伦-迪珍妮斯的节目中现场献唱猫王金曲，又自曝退休后想做歌手。
猫王冥寿歌迷朝拜 遗孀与女儿致敬
本报讯 1月8日是猫王普雷斯利的75岁冥寿，为期一年的纪念活动正式展开，超过三千歌迷无惧孟菲斯地区零下十多度低温，来到猫王在孟菲斯故居Graceland朝圣，猫王遗孀普里西拉和女儿丽莎-玛莉出席致敬活动，两名外孙Benjamin及Riley Keough现场切生日蛋糕和歌迷分享。
普里西拉表示1月8日对她是苦乐参半，并说假如猫王仍在生，一定爱看《一夜成名》，而稍后太阳剧团致敬音乐会和巡回摄影展等将陆续举行。
